On your bike!
Cycling in Kaltern on the Wine Route and in South Tyrol
Pedals under your feet – but not of the brake or accelerator type? Welcome to the Wine Route! Whether you prefer pedalling along valley cycle ways, conquering mountain passes or whizzing down MTB trails, guests at the Hotel Goldener Stern have plenty of choice.
Exciting hairpin bends lead you high up to the Mendel Pass with magnificent views and, once you reach the top, you can either explore the mountain scenery, ride back down to the village on the Mendelbahnl funicular railway, or zoom down the winding pass road once more. If on the other hand you are more of a leisure cyclist, various cycle paths take you to the surrounding villages, to the cities of Bozen or Meran and thus through the whole of South Tyrol’s Überetsch, Unterland and Meraner Land areas. You can even cycle directly from Kaltern to Lake Garda! And we also of course recommend the Mendel Pass to all MTB enthusiasts. Exciting narrow trails for hikers and bikers alike also run from the funicular to the top of the mountain – then back down again, with lots of action over rough and smooth terrain.
And there’s more! The Dolomites and the Regglberg plateau are also close by, opening up a whole new biking world for you and your MTB, with a bike park, trails, hut-to-hut routes and much more besides. While, for road bike enthusiasts, the Fennberg is another option with plenty of bends! So are you ready? Then get on your bike and ... GO!
